These are great lookers , yours is in good shape with only a few nips on the back-
They really dress up a full uniform-

I have been looking at some different period pictures and these were purely ornamental correct? Why I am asking is I see some soldiers wearing them with steel helmets and other combat gear. Thanks

The gorget served as a sign of special position. One of the most common is the feldgendarmerie gorget worn by field police. It served as a totem of position and authority. Flag beaerers and their honor guard wore them which singled them out as holding a special position in their organization.

If you are interested in gorgets you should buy yourself:
"Ringkragen und Brustschilder im Dritten Reich", written
by me and Andrew Mollo.
The book is large size and has 704 pages. For foreigners there
is one problem: the text is in German. Further it is quite expensive.
In general gorgets exist for flag bearer's and gorgets for those
with a police service.
The chapter about the political leaders gorget has 16 pages
and various pages/photos with gorgets in use.

Horst, great photo and beautiful uniforms, but bandsmen nor others did wear a gorget,
just the flag bearer's and the variation gorget by the Streifendienst.
From the regulation "Die Uniformen der Politischen Leiter der NSDAP",
according order 9/39 from the Hitler-order from April 2, 1939. The
same information was included in "Uniform-Vorschrift für die Politischen
Leiter der NSDAP", also from April 2, 1939.

Wilhelm, thanks I know that but I just love dressing up the uniforms band members or flag bearers.
This way the Gorgets get displayed.

I was convinced you would know and you only did
it for a better look of the uniforms! Great display!
