GWAR, why starting a new thread when there is already at least one good thread about the broaches?

This thread was started 05-25-2008 by Adrian Stevenson as Reichsarbeitsdienst weibliche Jugend. broach
"Wir sollen auch unser Leben für die Brüder lassen" (1.Joh.3.16):
zum Gedächtnis Wilhelm Schenk. Er starb fürs Vaterland am 13. Juni 1916

Err, no, actually, it's simply a "J": "Reichsarbeitsdienst der weiblichen Jugend" = "National Labor Service of the Female Youth".

HPL2008, it is not a "J", but an "L" and stand for Leitung,
    Reichsarbeitsdienstleitung (RADL).
The same symbol was used with insignia for males as well
as females (look at unit-patches and for example cap insignia
for males). They all have it.

With the caption on page 283 from vol.5 it is correct, in contrary
to what is said with the caption on page 459. I must have overseen
it when controlling the lay-out or must have had a "black-out". Sorry!!

When one observes the Zulassungszeichen with many items, one
will see there are many variations for this triangle!! Look at the official
one and compare it with for example the male spade or the female
hat insignia. Sometimes the lower bar for the obverse "L" is somewhat
slanting downwards, but it is - as far as I know - never a real "J".

Hope I don't sound daft, Wim, but I'm afraid I can't follow you. The above brooch is for RADwJ members and doesn't bear the RADL mark.

See GWAR's answer. These broaches do not have this marking (anyway most often) as they have nothing to do with rank.

Sorry for the confusion... The above mentioned "Broach" is indeed a Reichsarbietdienst der weiblichen Jugend or RADwJ.. In this instance the "J" denotes youthful girls / women..
In previous posts I have said "RADJ" concerning the triangular mark.. In all actuality it is "RADL" as Wim has shown in post # 4 Reichsarbeitsdienstleitung.. Thanks to all for contributing to this thread G-Man
