S.A. Tagungsabzeichen Prices!
This little fellow recently was sold on a well known German auction site for - wait for it - Euro 206.
That is approximately GBP 171 and USD 283. My bid looked "amateur" to say the least.
This is a rare pin, however Euro 206!
Not boding well for my (and others) 2014 collecting of these pins, as I have been aware for some time now that the once humble SA-Tagungsabzeichen is instead regarded as highly desirable, highly sought after and highly prized.
Happy Days.
Regards,
David

Indeed, David...I remember when tinnies of any type were ignored by most of the collecting community and generally available under $5.00...I've noticed that German/European collectors have taken to these with gusto, and they've become a popular collectible now, with prices reflecting that increased interest...I remember back in 1998 I was telling folks that tinnies would be the next "big thing"...and people looked at me like I was nuts...!

When I started collecting, the resale shops in Chicago that handled WW2 items, had large containers full of these items at 25 cents each, your choice. How times have changed. I remember pulling a Totenkopf Aufsmarsch tinnie out of one of those containers for 25 cents.

Perhaps there is a very fine line between collectors who have more money than sense and those who are astute enough to anticipate a future highly desirable, valuable and sought after item. The person who bid for and eventually bought this quite special SA-Tagungsabzeichen does I know, fall into the latter category. A highly enjoyable pin to have in ones collection and with the knowledge that every year, the demand for the genre and the associated price, will increase. This is I think a good barometer indication that our somewhat specialised hobby is alive, well and without understating the blindingly obvious, doing rather nicely. This is though now and without a shadow of a doubt, a hobby where the collector needs to have deep pockets.
