Well here is your first response.
Its a police shoulder board in the rank of meister (high SGT or warrant officer). Could be for transportation, or animal vet. Here is the bad news. From the construction it is EAST GERMAN and post war. This rank was used by East and West Germany well after the war. It was also a popular rank before the war, but this IS NOT a prewar board. If I have time today (which I don't think I do because I am driving 7 hours to the MAX show) I can show you a Pre-War and Wartime Meister board so you can see the difference.

Dear Martin, could you please show me a couple more East German boards constructed like this? I do not know what it is, but it is not East German. Cheers, Torsten.

Sorry, but why would one think this board to be East German? The first post in Kevin's (Ehrentitle) thread on GMC are BGS, i.e. West German Bundesgrenzschutz and NOT East German. All of the other boards he showed in his thread are east german, but not those in the first post. The board shown here in this thread is most likely Bundesgrenzschutz and is most certainly not East German. East Germany never had any boards even remotely similar in construction to the one shown here. Cheers, Torsten.
