Hi everyone, I have been restoring a stripped late type (1939-45) SA brown shirt and thought I would show you how I have been getting on. Eventually hope to have a dagger, a kepi, and collar patches. Also if anyone has any ideas for what the missing breast badge (above the sports badge) could be (it would need to be a common sort of badge due to budget) please let me know. Any comments welcome. With a later type of brownshirt normally a double-claw was worn instead of a buckle.

Ok, thank you. I have one of those so thats not a problem.

If anyone has any pictures of wartime SA men they would like to share with me, please do, I have been able to find virtually nothing.

I'd find a nice SA rally or day badge for the pocket.

I'm wondering if the Party badge is not placed
too low on the tie, and are there loops
    for the ribbon bar.........?
    Regards,

    Steve.

Douglas, I said "normally" with the buckle, as to regulations this
was already for years changed into the double-claw. But you will
see the wearing of the buckle even into the war. Apparently one
could not get it arranged that all wore what was described! At the
other forum (WAF) one person gave you an answer, which is in some
ways correct. But my goal was "what about regulation"! As I cannot
(or better said won't) show images at that forum, you get them
    here!

In a regulation from December 1933 the change was alreay published.
It is said: one can wear the double-claw. But when new items had to
be purchased it had to be the double-claw. The color for the claw
was as the color for the buttons. Let's say: your person did not
need a new buckle as his was a good one!

I would say also an NSDAP party badge could fit there, but you have
one on the tie. See how it should be worn with the coming image:

With the brownshirt you see the position; with the tunic it could
    be worn upon the breast-pocket.

Steve, thanks very much for your comments. The ribbon bar is indeed attached to original loops on the shirt.

Wilhelm, this is terrific information and you have helped me a great deal, thanks very much.

Nice looking display as ever Doug.

And as ever, we are in Wim's debt.

    Cheers, Ade.
