Can anybody tell me if the Gold Eagle is Naval, or Officer's? I was under the impression they were BOTH vet's organisations. That is why they both had the EK. I was not aware there was a separate organisation for Naval vets.

I agree with Adrian , the gold eagle is for Navy , and the for the eagle head look the pic
The Gold Eagle is for Navy Veterans of all Ranks. Gold just seems to be the Navy's thing. The Helmets for example, the Naval Decals are a Gold color on the side of the Eagle. Stormtrooper
Okay, sorry for not answering your original question. The gold eagle is the Navy veterans version. There was also a silver eagle similar to this in design for the Heer. The eagle faces the way it does because of the fact that it was before the Nazis came to power and is explained in post #12. The Second one you show is the second version of the veterans badge after the Nazis came to power.
Please view photos.
1st - Heer Silver, 2nd - KM Gold(excuse photo quality, but it is gold), 3rd - Version 2 which I beleive was the same for Heer and KM, but cannot be sure. And that is all I know.

Okay, I really seemed to have my head up my a**e when I wrote this. Doesn't make sense, does it. To my understanding, the first type where worn by the DRKB (German National Association of Veterans; Kyffhauser) before 1938, after which the second type was worn when all the veterans organisations where incorporated into one and became the NSRKB (National Socialist State Soldier's League), of course as you can see, I have been known to stuff up royally.

Here's the link Ade mentioned - https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/histo...050/#post57608
The eagles in post # 15 are:
Top ("long" swords, left-facing eagle) = Soldatenbund e.V. (Soldiers' League, Registered)
Middle ("long" swords + anchor, left-facing eagle) = Nat. Soz. Deutscher Marine-Bund (NSDMB) (National Socialist German Navy League)
Bottom ("short" swords, right-facing eagle) = Nat. Soz. Reichskriegerbund (NS-RKB) (National Socialist Reichs Veterans' League)
(Identification as per Vol. II of "Headgear of Hitler's Germany" by Jill Halcomb Smith and Wilhelm P.B.R. Saris)
Thank you very much for clearing that up for me. The Veterans organizations can get very complicated.
Tom
Glad someone finally explained it,,,
