Hi, nice item, where would it have been worn? Any chance of photo of rear ?
Hi Scout, sorry but this one is bad. This numbered example is a well known fake.
Here is a German website with some info:
Zollgrenzschutz
Cheers, Ade.
OKW, the back is just felt - no pins protruding or anything. If you still want a pic, I will post it.
Adrian, thank you very much. Great to get it confirmed
I am not a collector of these items per se and thus do know have the years of experience that you guys have. I bow to your superior knowledge.
In the matter of the arm shield above, it is scary how detailed it is and how well executed it looks, at least to me. I guess this fact, that many fakes are very well made, is what keeps some people out of the collecting game. I for one did not know what to look for in visors, uniforms, decorations before i stumbled over this great forum thus have refrained from investing huge amounts of money in dodgy pieces that I for one did not know were real or not.
How about these, I assume now that they are fake?:
Never seen this one before - an inkwell (marked DRP; Deutsched Reichs Patent?)
Look forward to hearing your opinions
Here we have a mixture of good and bad items.
The SS cap eagle and deathshead are both fake. Any SS insignia with runes in a diamond as a proof mark is bad.
The lighter is bad. The lighter itself could be period, but these sports association eagles appear on a whole series of fantasy items out of Poland.
The NSDAP membership badge I am fairly certain is bad.
The Imperial WW1 Wound badge is good.
I think the ink well might be OK too.
Cheers, Ade.
Thank you very much. Not a big surprise there. For some reason the interest of the collectors and the fakers for that matter, seems to be concentrated on the WWII items. Too bad that not more are interested in "The War To End All Wars." There are also some nice WWI things, I think.
Your WW1 items are fine
Cheers, Ade.
I thought so. Thanks
thanks for the link Ade. To be honest if i hadn't looked at it and had the 2 examples shown, the gold and grey ones, in my hands i would have plumped for the gold as being the fake!
