Very odd construction. Possibly a pre RZM model locally made for design and not construction. From your images, I believe it is period original. The internet generation collector will not like the piece as it, as they like to say, not "textbook."

Thank you Bob i think its ok but not textbook as you say , it was found with some other German ww2 items picked up by a British Soldier who was in Germany in 1945/46

I have seen a couple others made like this over the years. Lord how I hate the overuse of that word "textbook."

Early homemade? Certainly done on a button holer sewing machine? Whatever the case, I like it.

I really like this armband and it looks as though it is a genuine period piece.
I too have picked up some bundles of non regulation armbands from a vet here in the UK.

I am quite sure that those embroidered swastika roundels must have been readily available and your red cotton (is it herringbone?) looks like it is period.

I've pictured the last bundle of mine that came to me. The black bordered roundel is exactly the right size to fit on an armband and is made from pressed wool.

The pennant shows similar stitching to the process used on your armband.
