If so, is this item original?

The item appears to be an original kampfbinde just from the pictures. I am always a little leery about an item that has not been seen until recently. Possibly another member knows more. The question is when was the black cloth applied. An in hand examination might tell more. I did see a very convincing fake political wool armband at the SOS in 2009. A good friend who is a NSDAP specialist brought the piece and later returned it after a close examination after it failed the black light test.

Wearing a black mourning band [Trauerflor] on the left upper sleeve over the Swastika brassard was a standard, regulation practice.

There are numerous photographs of this*, many from the period of national mourning following the death of von Hindenburg.

However, the mourning bands were normally just put on and taken off as needed. A special mourning brassard with a permanently affixed black ribbon is rather odd.
