I've only been collecting about ten years, but I also had the false impression that ink stamps on armbands made them fakes. It seems like lately fake ink stamped bands are flooding the market. That's why this is such a wonderful site for collectors of 50 years or just starting. Thanks for your experience guys!

Yes, items can be judged today by what the fakers do. We must always remember that at times, fakers copy what is real for easier sale. That is why it is important that we older collectors share our experience with those who are younger. Unfortunately, the believe the item and not the story has also cost the loss of much oral tradition regarding the history of an item.

Thanks Bob. Believe me, I'm trying to absorb as much of your collecting knowledge into my little brain as I can. I guarantee the expert knowlege that you guys share on this site is the scourge of the scoundrals that are forging items from this period.

That is one reason, when you might ask what is wrong with a piece specifically, you may not get a precise answer, after all fakers watch these sites too, and too much information at once can only damage our hobby
