Hi David, it is not "bg" but the other way around, GB, for Gustav Brehmer of Markneukirchen.
I have seen these marked "GB" on the plate which secures the pin in place. The "Ges. Gesch." was also in raised lettering.
I think it is good.

Sorry for coming in a little late on this one.
For the life of me I really cannot see anything wrong with this membership badge and actually (in my opinion), I think that it could be regarded as quite desirable. It is what some call a "pre RZM" type. I have never seen this well known companies logo on a membership badge before, although I have seen on original items, names and logos stamped rather than raised.
I like it.

I do have this membership badge in my collection and it is exact the same! I got it in the 70´from an old veteran together with other family badges and papers. And it is an original!
