    I bought this badge without researching it, and proudly showed it on the forum.

    Thanks to those who confirmed that this is a post war repro!

    Tip for young players....these badges wer NEVER marked M9!!

    Should only me marked M1.

    Is it because of where it is positioned or the wrong pin, as in my research I have seen this style of pinion originals either positioned in the middle or as in the photo

    pin plate should be in the middle of the badge,round in shape and pin itself is different than pictured above,,,heres a good one,,,

    Right no worries, I sent it back to the dealer and sending a authentic one with the same pin assembly as yours, and marked M1

    The translucent nature of the red enamel is also something to watch out for I understand, apparantly fakes have trouble matching the period translucency.

    another huge give away is the Ges Gesch and the RZM being together is a red flag. The font is bad, especially the "O". the "L" and "S" should be closer together. The "Z" in the RZM is another give away, notice how it sits higher, not in line with the "R", that is refered in other forums (as well as this one) as "Titled Z". The pin plate is also bad. Be careful only judging a pin solely on the M1. There are so many other factors to consider.
