    Thanks Kirby, I might try in time to add a Gorget and make a little display. looking around it seems that the shoulder straps dont come for sale that often, are they hard to get hold of? Also the whistle has an actual pea in it lol

    Ben, you mean the police-gorget?
    This is one of the gorgets hardest to find. I know only three originals.
    All three I showed in my book.
    All the rest I have seen were fakes, as they had the cartouche eagle
    attached, which is smaller and in fact quite different from the eagle
    as positioned for the police.

    From my gorget-book, published in Germany:

    Yes Wim and thanks for that, did not know they were faked heavily

    Yes, they are and I had quite some discussions with
    dealers at shows, as they didn't believe me they had
    a fake.
    The problem is/was: they had never seen an original
    and so the fakers "made their wish come true"!!

    If you ever see one:
    the wingspan for the eagle has to be 13.3 cm;
    the open wreath is 7.3 cm. The wreath with swastika
    is 3.0 cm and the swastika has to be 1.4 cm

    No idea. I was never interested in shoulder-boards or straps from most of the organizations.
    HJ, yes. But that is all!!

    Officers tabs shouldn't cost more than $50-60. Shoulder boards under a $100 depending on rank and condition. A nice officers eagle $125-200+ but watch out for fakes. Just buy a tunic. A much better way to display your items. Here is a little display I have.

    Found a couple of sets of Boards at Oakleaf Militaria. I have never bought from them.

    Ben, if you try to make a display with an eventual gorget, it is
    not needed to make it into an officer. Most often the one who
    is wearing a gorget is a lower ranked person. And do not forget
    the white gloves! Here some samples when actually being worn.

    When a standard is being used the gorget bearer is an officer;
    when a flag is being used it is a lower ranked indivudual, who
    is flanked by officers.

    By the way: a friend of mine offered 5,000,- euro for an original
    gorget. The owner did not sell it for this amount!
