Hi all
Here's a Württemberg without swastika.
@ Kirby: Re the "Westfahlen", I find the attribution (not the buckle itself, which is of course fine) problematic as Westphahlen at the time was a Prussian province. Forestry officials located in the province would have worn the Prussian buckle.
Kind regards
Kurt
Thanks for the nice additions to the thread.
Kurt I don't know about the Westfalen design vs Prussian. I am just going by Angolias book.
Pulling up this old thread to add my new Lower Saxony State Forestry officials buckle. I wish I had fond a fire guilded example but this is a rare one.
Hi Kirby
A super buckle. This is Braunschweig (Brunswick). Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) was only formed in 1946 out of the former states of Brundwick, Oldenburg and Schaumburg-Lippe, and the former Prussian province of Hanover. Attached is my buckle. This came out of a group containing some decorations and forestry buttons from the time of the Dukedom of Brunswick (pre-1919).
Kind regards
Kurt
Thanks for posting your nice buckle. What should the proper name for this design. The ?????State Forestry Service. Lower Saxony wouldn't be accurate if it didn't form till 1946.
Land Brauschweig (state of Brunswick) forestry service. The Duchy of Brunswick was restyled a free state (Freistaat) in 1919 and the Nazis changed the designation to Land (state) in 1933.
Great looking buckles!....
