New Deliveries - Red Stars

Article about: And the problem is you never know what one is until you research it. Red Stars I assumed to be "long service" (interesting enough, but ... yawn ...) turned out to be (1) for Czecho

I recently bought this 'practically mint' Red Star for my collection, its going to be a kind of reference point for my future stars, the detail is stunning under a loupe

I'm surprised by the cut of the medallion however, at the start of the CCCP the angles look really skewed. Does anyone know why this is so?

    Cheers.

It is a beautiful example. I just love these too.

Don't worry about the angles of the lettering. Did you check out the website I recommended?

    Cheers, Ade.

Looks even better in those pics

This will be a fairly late issue peice. Did you work out a rough idea of when it was issued? I would imagine it is one given as a long service award.

    Cheers, Ade.

I think it falls in the 1953 range if I have read Mr Filers information correctly.
I'm currently trying to make a softbox out of muslin to photograph my stars without any hotspots of reflection. I've not done this one justice, the detail on the shinel amongst other things is awesome

If you Gents dont mind me asking but, approx/ how much do thse cost? Im only into German stuff but want to branch out into Soviet items. I already have looked at a few sites like Russia Collects but-they appear to me to be on the high end of prices that I would expect for these.

Hi, prices on them vary according to the serial number. An average price is around $70 to $100. But they can be found cheaper with luck.

    Cheers, Ade.

I'd have to go along with Ade price wise, this one I confess was few dollars more than Ade's top end average...but worth every cent!!
If you find an order book to go with a good looking Red Star the price rises to around the $200 mark.
Luck does indeed play a part
    Cheers.
