On February 12th, 1945, during the battalion’s offensive directed at the German invaders in the Landsberg area, Captain Trofimov himself adjusted the batteries’ artillery fire, suppressing and destroying enemy firepower. Always present at the forward observation post, he boldly and quickly assessed the situation and had his batteries bring down a powerful artillery barrage on the most important sectors. On February 18th and 19th, 1945, during the capture of the towns of Packhausen, Lichtwalde, and Hohendorf, he took the place of a battery commander who had been put out of action. He promptly took a number of measures and repelled several enemy counterattacks, inflicting as many as 10 casualties upon the enemy and suppressing 1 enemy battery.
