Nice badge, these are amongst my favourite Soviet awards. My badge is numbered 534864 but I have no supporting material. I would like to ask if you got the docs with the order or did you do some digging around to find it?

Thank you! I purchased this Order of the Red Star with the Order Book. I then requested the research which I received the other day.

Order of the Red Star, nr. 534864, would have been awarded sometime in 1942/43 per Schmitt. Would like to see a picture/scan of yours if you are so inclined, front and back please. . .

Yeah, here it is. A little bruised in places but its my first and was inexpensive.

Can I ask where you got your research done? I find this as important as the award itself.

    Rafael Karpovich Minasian
Rafael is a Spanish name, is very curious.
    Best regards.

I don't know the named man, but the name is not perhaps as much Spanish as it is Armenian.

Rafael Minasian / Рафаэль Минасян / Ռաֆայել Մինասյան seems a quite normal Armenian name. There is even a street with this name in Kapan / Капан / Կապան - the capital of Syunik / Сюник / Սիւնիք province in southern Armenia.

The middle name or patronym Karpovich / Карпович would be rather rare, especially in Armenia.

A more common first name would be Charles / Карл / Կարլոս - giving the patronym Karlovich / Карлович. The difference "Карлович" vs. "Карпович" could be a typo, espcially reading from hand-written papers.

    - Frayer

P.S. - I hope your computer has Armenian characters loaded - otherwise you will see gibberish for the Armenian names.

Yes, Frayer, you are correct. I was told by the seller that this Red Star was, in fact, awarded to an Armenian. I think the translations of the documents will substantiate that fact.
