Order of the Red Star, unnumbered, Sergeant Yuri Fedorovich Grosh
Order Book (#M136862), undated, issued to Yuri Fedorovich Grosh awarding an Order of the Red Star, 197th Infantry Division, June 1st, 1945, unnumbered.
Award Card dated May 8th, 1997 (Victory Day), Kalynivka, Vinnyts'ka oblast, Ukraine, as Squad Leader 828th Infantry Regiment, an unnumbered Order of the Red Star by the 197th Infantry Division, signed by Colonel E. Chernelevsky of the Regional Military Commissariat.
I do not think Sergeant Grosh received his Order of the Red Star, and may have been deceased at the time this Order Book was given to his family.
Award List (Prikaz), Sergeant Grosh is number 7. listed as Squad Leader of the Rifle Company, 828 Infantry Regiment of Vladimir-Volyn.
Citation reporting the assault on the outskirts of the village of the city of Meysin on May 5th, 1945 wherein Sergeant Grosh assumed command and, following the retreat of the enemy, forty soldiers and officers were, "left behind on the battlefield."
Sergeant Gosh was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd Class, in 1985 as well as the Medal for the Liberation of Prague dated November 28th, 1945, by the Commander of the 14th Guards Rifle Division, Guards Major Kotel'nikov, Serial #A027478.
