Default Red Star Number 2: #2177610

    Hi,

My name is Jason and I am a red star addict. It all started a month ago when I got my first. The lure of the blood red enamel is to great, I need more! lol

Well here is number 2, not the lowest number in the world but a stunning order, and I am amazed to see the differences between this one and my first (1943 issue). I have the screw plate on the rear as well, just not pictured.

Have I started to slide sown a slippery slope?

Yep, you are sliding rapidly. I have 9 of them now. Had 2 researched, both turned out to be long service awards.

It's ok, Jason... we are here to help. I have three Red Stars... the first step is admitting that you have a problem...

Looks like a nice one to me! I'm not too up-to-snuff on the serial numbers, but perhaps awarded as a long service award? Any plans to get this one researched?

In general, the higher the serial number, the higher the chance the Red Star was awarded as a long service award, correct?

Thanks guys, I have a problem alright. Got a feeling its not the last!

I have heard that as well, the higher the number the more chance its a long service award. I most likely wont get this one researched for that very reason.

Here is the 2 of them together, sorry for the terrible pic, just couldnt get the lighting right

Jase, if you feel this addiction too difficult to bare, please feel free to send one or both of these things to me until you feel comfortable once again to have them in your collection. It is then, and only then, that I will make make the decision with your best interests at heart as to whether I believe you are truly recovered from your addiction and possibly return them to you. I'm that kind of bloke, always thinking of others!

Yes the higher the number the greater the chance it is for long service. I was talking to a guy recently (Oleg from the CollectRussia website) who told me that Red Stars >500,000 are almost always long service. He said it's a real crap shoot, and finding one for bravery is like looking for a particular needle in a stack of needles.

Beautiful MZPP variant, most likely awarded early 1945. . .
