Low and behold, my search for an Order of the Red Star has come to an end! Ade recommended searching ebay (a source I've avoided when it comes to militaria for fear of fake repro stuff...) and I was able to jump on a salty looking Red Star that must have just been listed at a great price! The seller has a 14day return policy, and I paid via paypal, so I'm confident that things will be ok if this ends up being a fake.

I know this Order of the Red Star is a little beat up, but I like the patina. In all honesty, I prefer salty items over minty ones. I like the pieces of my collection to actually look like they've participated in history, not sat out history in a warehouse somewhere...

The enamel on one of the arms of the stars is chipped at the tip. The back is maker marked "Monetnyi Dvor", and it is numbered 1510538.

So anyway, what to you guys think?!

Looks fine! Do not clean it. Nice patina. Most likely 1945 at a rough guess.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks, Ade! I like it a lot already! Of course I won't clean it!

It was advertised as being a 1945 piece. Does anyone know the best way to go about researching the individual who this Red Star belonged to?
