The 1914/1918 Ehrenkreuz

Article about: by danhashman There are those little crossed swords on the ribbon. Is there something to tell about that? I often see Ehrenkreuze whose ribbons have no little swords attached to it, i guess

Here are mine to add to the thread. Like you say, very nice, but underated pieces.

Very nice additions Andreas and Cyclist! I still need The Ehrenkreuz für Witwen und Eltern to complete my set. When I get one I will post my little family in this thread.

    Good afternoon guys,

I have received the Ehrenkreuz für Hinterbliebene so as promised I will post a picture of my little family. Now I need to go look for mounted Ehrenkreuzen.

    Regards, Rik

Just in is this rather homemade-looking ribbon bar for the Ehrenkreuz für Hinterbliebene:

It came with this Kriegsteilnehmer cross marked "CW" for Carl Wild of Hamburg:

Here is my latest acquisition, a 5-place lapel bow with miniature decorations:

    The 1914/1918 Ehrenkreuz

    The 1914/1918 Ehrenkreuz

    The 1914/1918 Ehrenkreuz

The decorations are the Prussian Rote-Kreuz-Medaille III. Klasse [Red Cross Medal 3rd Class], the Militär-Sanitäts-Kreuz 1914 [Military Medical Cross 1914] of Hesse-Darmstadt and, once again, the Ehrenkreuz für Kriegsteilnehmer with its non-combatant equivalents from Hungary and Bulgaria.

Unfortunately, the Ehrenkreuz was detached, as the sewing had unravelled. Apparently, there was never a miniature for the Bulgarian medal, with the decoration only represented by its ribbon.
