Advice Please - Zerstörer-Kriegsabzeichen - Destroyer War Badge.
I'm going to a local auction on this weekend.
This caught my eye , Zerstörer-Kriegsabzeichen - Destroyer War Badge.
Now I don't chase German items , I have some nice marked EK 2's & Boxed EK 1's in my collection , but that's all.
This looks OK to me , I think its marked L/18 Mayer ?
But I really don't know what its made of and what they are worth.

If anyone has any advice , it would be much appreciated.
I'm going for other Aussie items , its mainly deceased estate stuff.
Cheers Rick

I'm inclined to agree with Paul.
I like it as well, all the hardware looks correct to me.

As for value....go to a dealer for prices to give you a ball park proxy
Try eMedals. They usually keep a list of sold items on their site so you can usually get a good range of prices depending an maker and condition
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

I am no expert but I have a great book by Weber and Skora on the subject and it matches well with the variation 1 by Mayer . A nice tombac award IMO . Hope you get it at a fair price .

Thanks for the input chaps , much appreciated .
I will see how I go tomorrow , At least know I have a better idea of what I'm working with and sounds like something worthy of taking an interest in.
It's rare to have something like this appear at our local countryside auction house.
Everything that has been "WW2 German" in the past has been crap fakes , mainly helmets , badges & daggers.
Also the auctioneer has a habit / history of selling items to a "phone" or "internet" bidder on sale day only to have the same item resurface a few months later at the next auction
