Hi Bill,
Welcome to the forum.
As John states, this is a fake badge. The reverse is unlike an original in terms of the makers mark, rivets, pin/hinge/catch and the details on the obverse are unlike Assmann badges too.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Thanks for that
Can i ask what suggest that it is fake.
It would be nice to know
As per my previous reply, take a look here to see an original and compare the details.

Thanks everyone
After comparing online to originals i was a bit weary on certain details of this badge.
What would you expect to pay for a good original.
thank again for helping me.
iOffer is not the best source of original Third Reich militaria, especially as (I guess) a newcomer to the hobby. Fakes abound there and the chances of landing a good piece are very slim.
An original badge will set you back several hundred pounds, likely over £500 depending on condition, materials, source etc.

Thank you Adrian
fake look at the pin.
Hi William, welcome to the forum!
This type of semi broad pin was never used on any wartime badges. It first came out for use on the post war series of 1957 pattern badges.
Cheers, Ade.
