awful Schwerin U-boat Kriegsabzeichen fake
Hello all,
Saw this one for sale on another forum and wanted to give everyone fair warning. In my opinion, a reproduction. Anyone else like to confirm? To me there are numerous things wrong with the badge, eagle's head, wreath, the reverse hinge assembly, the catch, as well as the maker mark.

There are a few things that I don't particularly like on this badge. The fat arms of the swastika on the reverse are one and the blob for the propellers is another. The pin and catch are pretty much correct, though. There are Many variations of these badges and they came with both flat wire catches and round hooks, so I'm not too alarmed by that. The eagles heads on these pieces have Always been heinous, and resemble at times chickens, pigeons, and who can say what else. There is no trace of gilding at all on this one-not even on the pin, and that is something else that I would question more deeply.
