badges and pin

I found these badges and pins amongst my grandfathers effects, any ideas as to what they are?

Hi David, welcome to the forum!

The one is the left is a silver wound badge. The cross I have no idea, sorry. But try posting it is the Imperial WW1 German forum. You may get an answer there.

The SS stick pin is not original in my opinion. These should be serial numbered etc.

thanks for quick reply, no sign of numbers on stick pin but as he died in '45 whilst in command of a pow camp don't know how he got a fake one (unless even then they were making fakes!)

David, sadly they were.......

The pin maybe a dagger insert, with a soldered bit on the end. Ade is of course correct, when he says they should be numbered.

Hi David, the SS-ZA stick pin, the SS-zivilabzeichen was a strictly contolled item in the Third Reich. They were maker marked and serial numbered.

SS stick pins were not sanctioned for wear unless officially awarded.

I did put these lines in a treath before...:


In the book " German Military Cuffbands" by G.Williamson & T. McGuirl.You can see a collector selling copy cuffbands ,as souvenir, before the end of the war!!
His picture appeared in Life magazine of august 6 1945.
It says also they where not made to fool any one , they where just made for the "new collector's market".
