You're correct in your assumptions, there are several points that condemn it. Do a search and you'll learn what they are.

Yes, your assumptions and Ned's agreement are correct, this does not match an original badge, either in details or reverse hardware. Try a search for the thread title and you will find several original badges to compare to.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
