    Hello all.
I have been doing some considerable research in to the Eastern People decorations.
Allthough I have a few Wachtler and Lange's I have been keen to add some variants to my ever growing volunteer collection.

From what I have learned there are 3 acceptable variants.
Type 1 is considered to be the earlier type having a plain inner and outer circle and a flat back.

The second type has a corded inner and outer circle and is generally stamped 100 either on the pin of the 1st Class or on the ring of the second class.

Type 3 which the one below is an example of and has all the acceptable die flaws which I will point out shortly.

So to the known flaws on a type 3.
The left hand sword hilt always has a pellet in the area indicated.

The top rays of the sunburst always look to be overfilled:

There is also a stamping flaw on the reverse near the hinge housing I haven't taken a picture of this one but it is present.

Finally a shot of the box and interior.

Note how fine the representation of the award is stamped.
The latest reproductions from up in Birmingham have a heavily blocked gilt representation.

    I hope this helps.

I agree with Al, a very good looking award and a nice set!
It would appear that the 6 0'clock rays are also "over filled" as well. I would assume that this is part of the design.
    Thank you for posting Doug.

Yoa are right Ralph the bottom rays are overfilled.
I am not too sure this is part of the design. The examples without swords do not have this over filling and neither do any of the first or second types.
I assume it is just a die flaw..

I have some other cased orders that I will post as I dig them out and the weather improves.

    All the best
