Hi. Just picked this up yesterday and would like opinions on originality please. The details are very sharp(I apologize for my lack of camera skills). I have a 30 day return receipt if it turns out to be bad. It looks good to me but I've never had the opportunity to handle an original and haven't seen examples of these with this kind of backing. got it with a 1936 Olympic medal which I will post separately in the appropriate forum when time permits.

Looks bad. The reverse appears solid? I would say a cast fake.

Thank you for the picture. I'm a little confused. In hand the details a very crisp albeit the shield is a little worn. The one you pictured looks identical to the one I have especially looking at the plane, The way the wing tips are slightly different on each end and the right wheel is slightly higher than on the left. Also, the back appears to have possibly been filled. I just want to be sure before I return it it's a dud.

The reverse side is horrific...and I'm no expert on these.
    cheers, Glenn

Hi Popcorn , I am afraid your shield is a fake. To the best of my knowledge these are all "pressed" steel/zinc awards that have four prongs/pins on the reverse to fix them to the backing plate. This is neither pressed nor does it have the correct pins. Leon.
