I would appreciate it if anyone can ID this award for me? Photos are not the best, but all that I have at the moment. All that I know about this is that it apears to be of sliver and has the initials LN with the number 1790 stamped in the reverse. Any help will be appreciated ... thanks.Deutsche Akademie für Luftfahrtforschung.Deutsche Akademie für Luftfahrtforschung.Deutsche Akademie für Luftfahrtforschung.

There are many. I think a picture of original will show them best.
This badge was awarded in silver grade only once and that badge is (or was until very recently) accounted for.
Unmarked specimens exist as well, few with post war award numbers added as well but no info has surfaced as to them being actually awarded.
IMO the badge that started this thread is not original.

    cheers

Try a search, a couple of these have cropped up on the forum over the years.

A rare bird if original and with a price tag to match. Determining originality is going to be hard with such a rare object unless some comparisons with undoubted originals can be made.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

The version that I posted in the first post, in my opinion, apperars to be bronze.
