Original or very dangerous fake ? .. I don't like this strange patina but.. rivets seems ok , 1 stamp seems ok, hinge seems ok. catch is not clear.
I like date too. I would like to have it in hands..
I think this is a very high quality fake,,some things i like about it,others i dont
You must be very carefull with these nowadays. I have seen some high level dealers be fooled by amazing reproduction pieces. As I live by and tell a lot of people in this hobby if its too good to be true and/or things just dont add up go hands off. If you are looking for nice original items I would stick to the dealers sites or the for sale forum here. You may pay a little more but you will have a collection you dont have to worry about.

I would pass on it.
Straight on shots are always best.
Cheers, Ade,
If that is a fake it's a very dangerous one.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Take at look here at the 4 rivet Deschler:
German Cross
My untrained eye cant see anything wrong with it!

"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
Looks pretty good compared with the one in Ade's link.
I cannot tell if it real or not. But what I have seen on dealer sites was that this kind of marked Deschler crosses came on the market at several places almost at the same time. So from one day they could not offer any of these crosses, but in a two week period suddenly some dealers could offer this cross.
That does not prove that there are all fakes, but it surely can raise suspicions.
