Based on the few pictures I have, could someone please comment on whether or not this piece is authentic?

I've got enough expensive reproductions, so I would like to avoid getting stuck with another, if there are doubts regarding its German WWII production date.

    Thank you!

    Hi bd,
For me, it is a fake. There are several reasons why I think so, the hinge is wrong for this maker, the makers mark numerals are wrong too, as well as being slightly in the wrong position. The wreath on the front is incorrect and the date font doesn't match any Klein DK I've seen. The little stripes above and below the date shouldn't be there. The quality of the enamelling of the swastika is lacking also. There might be a bit of artificial aging going on too.
    I would save your money.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

I can only agree with Adrian's observations. The red border looks oversized too.

    Cheers, Ade.

It's a Latvian fake. They've been cropping up more and more in the last 5 years or so. Just about every mistake in it has been covered here already except the '11 o'clock flaw', that is also missing.
