Deutsches Kreuz in Gold / German Cross in Gold
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums, and was hoping for some help. I came across this Deutsches Kreuz in Gold while I was selling leftover inventory from an antiques shop my grandfather owned back in the 60s. I was wondering if I could get opinions on authenticity and value. I was also hoping someone may know where I could sell the medal. I don't collect militaria, and it doesn't hold any sentimental value, so I would like to see it go to someone that would appreciate such a rare piece of history. Thanks to everyone in advance for your help!

You can compare the back with a ground dug I used to have:

But I can't really compare the two, because they are different makers. Mine is stamped "134," which came from Otto Klein's factory. Everything on mine is consistent with others I have seen from the same maker, and I know there are variations in rivets and other things from factory to factory. Your medal looks more like a Junker made copy to me. I really appreciate the input though, and I may completely wrong; hopefully an expert can clear things up.

Looks like a nice Otto Klein to me...but we could use a better close up of the maker mark.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
The DK looks fine, and regarding selling the piece, I'd suggest that you sign up for Gold Membership here on the forum (well worth the small payment), and that will allow you to use the classifieds section, where many collectors will be able to view your item. Plus, you will likely sell the piece to somebody who will really appreciate it.
Regards,
Carl
