Deutsches Sportabzeichen

Article about: by HPL2008 It's not just the missing Swastika, actually; it's the letters: Imperial/Weimar/Third Reich-era: DRA = First version (up to ca. 1934/35) DRL = Second version (ca. 1934/35 to 1937)

Just in, another post-war DRL-without-Swastika badge, this time the Versehrtensportabzeichen [Sports Badge for the War Disabled] class:

Any idea of the vintage of this example?

Not too much is known about these post-war badges, but the introduction of the DSB sports badge in 1952 (which recipients of a DRL badge could get without the need for re-qualifying) pretty much rendered them obsolete. Production probably ceased around that time.

It's been a while, but here is another de-nazified DRL Sports Badge in Bronze.

I liked this one because quite some effort was put into the removal of the Swastika, resulting in an "open" bow with openings.

Also, Ernst Schneider of Lüdenscheid is a less common maker:

It took me a while, but I finally found a nice post-war Versehrtensportabzeichen in the version with the "full" center:

    Hey,

Got an example of Ernst Schneider of Lüdenscheid with intact swastika:

(Sorry for the bad pics, the badge is not actually green as it looks ...)

It's been a while, but I've just added another denazified bronze DRL Sports Badge to my collection. This was rather neat work, with the Swastika removed and the bow reworked into the shape familiar from the DRA badge:
