Re: Dr Fritz Todt Preis.... Original?
I won't pretend to be an expert on this award, but my gut instinct tells me that the piece above is a reproduction piece. It looks a little bit soft to my eyes, and lacks general sharpness. Hopefully, somebody will be able to give a good analysis of the piece soon enough.
Best of luck!

Carl

Re: Dr Fritz Todt Preis.... Original?
It was my understanding that these cases were supposed to be dark blue in color with an almost 'purple' bottom interior. The case shown looks black with a black lower interior.
I'm sure that Bob will be able to clarify.

Damien,
Is your award zinc or steel? Is it magnetic?
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Re: Dr Fritz Todt Preis.... Original?
Hi,
I have just tried a magnet on it and it does not stick...not sure if that makes it zinc or not though.

Re: Dr Fritz Todt Preis.... Original?
I thought original presentation awards were aluminium, or some other very light metal.

Re: Dr Fritz Todt Preis.... Original?
From a quick bit of research I can find silver, steel and zinc, the latter being the most common.
Silver and steel were award pieces and engraved, zinc were private purchase and therefore not engraved unless the wear wanted it to be.
