Re: Ehrenkreuz der Deutsche Mutter
Here are some for comparison . . .
Looking at the cross and comparing it to others I would question this one, too. The bottoms of the 'T's in MUTTER usually line up with the blue enamel on the bottom arm. These clearly do not. The left arm is not the same as its opposite. The ends of the blue enamel is wider than the arm on the right... as you stated the starburst is of a different size. Hopefully an expert will chime in, but I think I'd pass on this one.
Although, even with the details pointed out, I really don't see this as a fake so much as different. The enamel looks good to me, and the white borders appear even.

I like it, not symetrical but I have seen this before with MK's

Re: Ehrenkreuz der Deutsche Mutter
It's an original cross. If you measure the arms from the back they are of equal length. The central disc is a seperately applied piece and in this case it's been applied slightly askew leading the ey to be drawn to the 'shorter' right hand arm as you look from the front.
You can find Mutterkreuz with the swastika upside down which obviously means the words are in the wrong place. Nothing really to worry about, just a Friday afternoon at the factory! I would like to find such a wonky piece for my collection.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Friday afternoon, or Monday morning, perhaps. Asymmetrical is the word I was looking for.

Now that is one that would be nice to have. Very different! Is it yours?
