A new addition to my Mutterkreuz collection.
I know that this is not an authorized modification due to the fact that it was not acceptable to be worn on a chain but, I do not see any reason why someone would take the time and effort to make this change to wear post war. The workmanship is quite good, and since it is a silver version, I decided to add it to my collection.

Very nice but why You are so sure this modification was made because of the chain? You can wear it also with original ribbon and it just looks like better.

I am not sure it is for a chain but, the loop appeared to be a bit small to put the ribbon through. You are quite correct, it could be worn with a ribbon.
