I would leave it as is, im more concerned about the strange damage to the cross, it looks like it has been bent at the two points and the enamelling has cracked, is there signs of damage on the reverse
No. that's the fishing line holding the medal in place, as opposed to using glue to the reverse.
Forget what i said ,i see now that its the supports for the cross, must get my glasses checked AGAIN !!!!!!!
Yes keep it as it is, it looks great displayed like that in the shape of an 'M' for Mutter
"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
LOL, know what you mean.
Yeh, was going to keep it as is, like the fact it tells a story with the blood stain etc.
FYI: the frame came from Tescos, they have four different sizes and all have a 9mm depth that is ideal for medal display, this one was £4.00, comes in wood as well as black.
keep it as it is, the cross is nice and clean and looks a million bucks!
Best regards, Patrick
Very nice display Keep it the way it is. The stains are a part of the story.
Another vote for leaving it as it is. Perhaps you could widen the ribbon at the top and add a mini on a bow in the space to fill up the display area?
