Hello Larry,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe this is a fake. It is my understanding from this thread that JFS only made numbered GAB's.

Ralph.
P.S. It isn't really a matter of not paying much, it is more a matter of supporting the fakers. I recommend that if you are not familiar with, or are not able to research the item, post photos before you buy.
Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
Hello Larry
This is a known fake based on an original design. Return it & get your money back if you can.

Hello Larry and welcome, sorry but i agree completly with the others. This collecting lark is getting tougher by the day as the fakers are like drug cheats, they always try to stay one step ahead with evermore convincing copies of the real thing!Invest in some top notch reference books(amazon sometimes has good value secound hand copies)and if possible post your wants here first for opinion.I have been collecting for over 20 years and still get caught out occasionally.
thanks a lot guys!
If you try a search on this forum you will find some similar fake examples.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I was tagged by this very same JFS fake many years ago. I still have it to remind me to study, study, study!
the back still has sharp edges, looks bad
Here is one recovered from Russia by a digger on this forum.
This is period for sure ( look at the plating over the base metal ) yet it DOES have the disputed riveted catch and hinge.
I believe these really existed but with no branding - and I can see no evidence of a makers mark on this example.
Sorry about the flash but the sun is going down here.

Hello Dan
The riveted catch & hinge are not in question. From memory these badges are unknown maker # 10 in Frank Heukemes GAB book.
Anything in this design with a JFS logo is a fake.

Brett
