Evening gent's, I have just seen this award for sale, it looks ok to me as being the "pillow crimp" variation and the hook nose beak appears to be the same as other examples that I have seen. Just wondered what you fella's thought and also, has a known maker been attributed to these "pillow crimp" awards, I have thought that it may be a Mayer (L/18) made peice or is it a mystery? Thanks in advance, Leon.

    Hi Leon,

Nice original Heer flak by a so far unknown maker. I saw a couple of these badges in zinc today, and the price is getting to be shall we say...."intimidating".

    Regards, Ned.

Thanks for that Ned, the only reason I thought that L/18 may be the producer was the style of the "crimp" as it is similar to their wound badge. Maybe one day someone will find the evidence needed to pin these down? And yes, the price of these is going rapidly up which is why I may well go for this one even though I have been looking for a sensibly priced maker marked one for some time! Leon.

That sounds interesting Ade, thanks. Do you have any more details to hand as I would be interested in having a look? Leon.

You need to sign up to Twatter, Ade's got a very good page on there that shows all the interesting bits and dabs that are upcoming on the Hanson's Auctions sales, I'm always cyber stalking him.... Don't tell him I said that though.

Thanks for that Ned, apart from my e-mail and this fine forum I avoid all other aspects of "social media", there are to many complete $%^567's around that I really cannot be bothering with (and that's not counting the twice married divorcees that I went to school with trying to regain their childhood crushes!!!) I tend only to put the Brit stuff up on Twitter.

I have taken some pics of the badge for you.

    Cheers, Ade.
