Hello guys and girls! I am looking to maybe "dip my toe" into the sea of badges once more and thought that I would ask for your learned opinions on the Juncker marked award. It looks like a decent Nickel made piece to me , I cannot spot any "red flags" but I am open to your thoughts before I take the plunge!! Thanks in advance, Leon.

    Hi Leon,

Looks like a good 3rd pattern J3, but maybe buntmetal/brass rather than Nickel? It's a bit difficult for me to be sure, but other than that I personally have no problems with it.

    Regards, Ned.

    Hello,
I agree, it is a J3 ROAG. The J1 and J2 badges have a less bold eagle with more slender neck. So Leon, you better be careful dipping your toe into badges again, it can get you hooked.

Here is a J3 I had on file for comparison.

    Regards,
    Jody

    Hi Leon,
It couldn't be that pricey, case in point according to my 1984 Price Guide the Flight Engineer badge is worth from $425-475 and because the ROAG is more common its value is around $275. So allowing for inflation, the badge 30 years later now should be in the $500 range.

I thought you would appreciate the levity and the good old days in this moment of sticker shock. All jokes aside you have a lovely badge.

    Regards,
    Jody

Ha Ha ,nice one Jody, now those are prices I would be more than happy to pay!! Unfortunately I have bought this one from a UK dealer who is not known for its "charitable" care of the collecting community! They are also known for having the odd "duffer" amongst their inventory but on the whole they are no worse than the rest as we all make mistakes! I think I bought this one from the 2025 catalogue as it has emptied my pockets to the tune of £425!! Oh well, it won't be going anywhere soon anyway, all the best, Leon.
