    It's interesting Mo, there seems to be two styles of makers mark, the one above I've only seen on badges with the cast in zinc fittings and the other on the badges with soldered fittings.
    Have a look at Lorenzo Browns homepage in the pinned 'Useful Reference Links' thread and compare the makers marks. The cross of the 'f' varies in height. On one type it is below the top of the 'o' on the other it is level with the top. The top hook of the 'f' is different too.

    Interesting Adrian, I see it too. Do you know which kind of badge came first? I suppose there was just a slight delay between the time that they switched their 'F.O.' and their hardware setup.

    I am guessing that the more 'modern' mark came second. I recall seeing this kind of thing with other German maker marks, I just can't exactly remember what.

    I would think it's more to do with the manufacturing process. Which came second, the soldered on fittings or the cast in fittings.
