Default German Eagle Order, 1st Class?

Hello fellow collectors, here is a mint German eagle order just acquired from woodwork in Finland. The recipient is also known but date of issuance remains a mystery.

Any info on which cross this might be is appreciated. The case would indicate 1st order pre 1943, as it says "verdienstkreutz I. Stufe des ordens vom deutschen adler" and to my knowledge post 1943 did not come with this case?

Cross and case have never been switched and came together.

I posted these over at Wehrmacht awards too but thought you might enjoy them over here.

    Best Regards,

    Adren

I managed to purchase this from an auction where an old lady brought it to sale after her husband passed away that it belonged to.

The recipient was in charge of Helsinki General Hospital during the war and during German - Finnish operations in the eastern front.

The name is known but I've been asked to keep it secret so can't reveal it here.

I am 99% sure after doing research that the cross is 1st class pre 1943 so I am sure that I will never stumble upon an opportunity like this again.

I know nothing about these awards but that is an exceptional piece.
It looks absolutely mint and has to rank up there as one of the most impressive of all the Third Reich awards. The whole set is magnificent, thank you for sharing it with us.

Yes the condition is so good that I have never seen such a piece.

It looks like it could have been issued yesterday. Really brings history to life.

Still hard to believe I got it

    Regards,

    No stampings on the fan,

Only markings are ring stamping 900 / 21, for Godet brothers.

    Cross measures 50mm.
