This is a Kriegsmarine issue, and I think it's original. In the big scheme of things, they did not make very many of these. Wait for some additional opinions.
Jay
After hastily brushing up on Narvik shields I'm in agreement with Jay, it looks like a good original example. A zincer that has held it's reasonably finish well.
Comparing with known originals, it has the features normally found on genuine badges and I can't see any of the usual things found on fakes so for me it's a good one.
I would be interested if anyone disagrees and thinks it to be fake?
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Nice example, and it was good to meet you yesterday Adrian
Thank you for your valued opinion John and it was also a pleasure to meet you.

Thanks guys. From my own bit of research I was pretty confident that it was good but it is the first one I have had in person so I was looking for some input. I always appreciate the time you more experienced collectors take to help out us newer people.
I ended up buying about a dozen badges so when you see them you can crucify me I nearly bought a Narvik, got it on hold until Birmingham. I also ended up buying a full set of 08 webbing, plus an 02 tunic! I'll never learn!
Looks fine to me too.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi John, you will never be cured, it is as my mate calls it, "the sweet sickness"......
