    Gold for me. And an early type 1 dating from March 1934 - January 1935 badge at that.

    Just found this thread from a few years back. According to the chap in post #12, Bonner never made a gold grade of this badge. He was writing a book about them as he is apparently the "go to guy" on the SA sports badges, but has not posted in a long time.

    Let's hope so! The fellow did seem rather confident of himself when he took our dear leader to task, at one point stating:

    "You can believe me, I`m the expert for SA Sport / Wehr badges from the MFF - the greatest europian Militaria Forum worldwide.
    I`m too known in WAF for this.
    My book about this badges will offered end of this or beginning next year...."

    Still waiting for the book it appears.

    IMO the obverse does look gold. But the reverse, especially the hardware appears to be bronze. Stewy
