"DLRG" stands for "Deutsche Lebensrettungsgesellschaft" or "German Life Saving Association". Founded in 1913, the DLRG is still in existence and very much active today.
This pin could be worn by those who had successfully qualified for the DLRG's Grundschein, i.e. the Basic-Level Qualification Certificate for lifeguards.
See here for a little more info on the DLRG: DLRG - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here is the DLRG's present-day website (German language only): Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e.V.
Thank you for the response HP I have done a little more digging on them and they are a very worth while and admirable service to belong too that have contributed to education in water safety, swimming lessons, diving, rescue swimming , and the list goes on. As well as performing as lifegaurds and Rescue duties.
