    Default KIA display

Hello everyone, Hope the season has everyone in a festive mood. the group belongs to Obergerfreiter Otto Geibolbold. Otto was in a Nachrichten Regiment and served on the eastern front. he died on October 17th 1943. his awards include the Winterschlacht Im Osten, EK II, and the Kriegsverdienstkreuz II with swords.

can anyone tell me what the news department actually was and its roll on the eastern front? also was his regiment a part of the 4th SS Polizei Division?

    thanks for looking!

Nachrichten means signals , he was part of a signals detatchment . It doesn't mention anything about a Third Regiment or any affilaition to the Polizei Divison !!

Oops, thank you for the clarification Paul. I guess google translate wasn't as helpful as I thought. Is there a way I can change the title of the thread?

ahh, thank you. would it be a bother to ask where he was killed or if it says anything specific about his unit?

Hey guys, thank you very much with helping me with all the translations. I guess when I typed in what I thought I saw into google translate it came up as "news department" and as I began to look that up that's where I got the SS police from. Im not good with forigne languages and the fancy writing doesn't help. For the wound badge, does it mention what class he was awarded?
