This looks like the ones I see on ebay regularly. I recall that the originals have the broader needle, such as seen on the close combat awards.
I'm fairly certain that the shown example is a postwar version, but perhaps there are other opinions...
    cheers, Glenn

It is either a copy or possibly post war made for a veteran.
I have one similar. The real deal looks slightly different, biggest one being that the fins are smooth and not ribbed as in yours and mine (see attachment below)
Also added my example for interests sake. Real ones are extremely scarce, I'm told.

    it's very misterious....
in christopher Ailsby book, badges seems to be strange... they are unmarked
in Sascha Werber & Gerhard R. Skora, book vol 2, they are copy
my ownn is not like repro on ebay. Missing 2 hole right and left.
But i agree that it seems to be post war
    i don't know...

This is the only unquestioned original that I am aware of. It came from the Estate of Ottfried Neubecker, the chap who designed the awards. Neubecker died in 1992. During the period of the 3rd Reich, he was married to a Jewish woman which caused him all sorts of problems, but was supported by the Kriegsmarine who commissioned him to do several works and paid him in secret.

Almost certainly only a handful of such pieces were made as trial strikings.

The examples in Ailsby's book are fakes.
