Hello, i thought this story may be of interest.
Is there anybody that knows of Whiton's Field. I would love some more info or period photos of the area.
Also, has anyone an idea of the maker of this Kriegsabzeichen für Hilfskreuzer?

Hello, welcome to the forum and thank you for posting.
The Hilfskreuzer is an original zinc variant which is attributed to Steinhauer & Luck based upon the obverse design and the reverse hardware.
The account is quite fascinating - is there any reference to the particular medals that accompany the provenance?
Also, thank you for posting such clear photos!

Thank you Adrian, i obtained these from the lady back in 1999, she still has the wad of money mentioned. She would not let me photograph her with the items, and i have tried several times since. I always do my best to obtain photos, video or some written info on any items i find still in original owners hands. It is very important to me that you can hold a particular item and know its history, it gives the item great depth. She said i can have the wad one day, so i will try again for a photo. This photo is the original one she showed me as she had the items in a safe place. I still have the original envelope shown.
Thank you also for the info.
Hi Tobruk
I was born and brought up in Lincoln and used to play on the swings and slides on that location which is now called Whittons Park. I had no idea POWs were there in the war. All my family still live around there I will ask around !

Thank you Nick, i was hoping for such a response to the history of the area, and you are just the man.
Looking forward to hearing how you go.
I found this list of POW camps in Lincolnshire. I have no idea which may be the one at Whittons Park, hopefully Nick will turn something up.
