Default Krim Shield .. butchered ?

One of the very few possible WW2 German items I have is a krim shield thats seems to have been rather butchered !

The backing cloth is gone, ... the lugs removed ... and to cap it all, there are two square "nail" holes punched through.

I have been lead to believe the shield is correct, and in some instances, the soldier would punch through a couple of holes so that he could fasten the badge to his uniform more securely !

Anyhow here's some scans of the front and rear ..

    Hi Gary

I've seen krim's nailed on wooden planks like this before. Can't comment on the originality of this one, shields are not my area of collecting...

Appreciate the in put chaps ....

So, presuming the "damage" is contemporary, the shield does have some residual value to collectors then ?

Hi Gary, even in that condition it is still saleable. I cannot suggest a value though.

    Cheers, Ade.
