    Hello Tom,
I just have a gut feeling that this isn't a good Assmann.
Here's why (so if I am wrong it is only my opinion)
The details on the feathers seem weak.
The wear is inconsistent. There is heavy wear on the front leg and on the eagles head but not apparent on other high points.

The wreath looks to be softer than is usual in these type 2s
The hardware is all the same metal? I thought that the hinge barrel was always different than the pin.

Not keen on the flattened rivet

    I just don't like it

    All the best
    Doug

    Hi Doug,

Here's a confirmed original. I think it addresses some if not all of your concerns regarding the badge being discussed here. It's acceptable to find these with both raised and indented maker marks, and in rare cases not marked at all. the position of the stamp is not overtly critical as it was added by hand.

    Hi Tom,

The new pic's are sufficient to convince me this is an original badge. The really noticeable thing that makes me think this is the last picture that shows the open hinge and the catch, these are absolutely correct down to the smallest detail and are good enough for me, I would be happy to own this badge.

    Much better photos Tom.
After Ned's last post and seeing these new photos, I don't see a problem with this one.
